CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU THERE!!

Chamber music house shows

Beginning in November of 2018, Liz Kohl hosted the first official Chamber Music House Show in her SE Portland home.  Though held in a small space, these monthly/bimonthly events have grown in popularity and have become highly anticipated events for people to connect with music in a more causal setting and with our community at large.  Liz started this concert series because she is passionate about bringing classical music to a wider audience in a way that is accessible and fun, creating connections between people of different backgrounds, and hosting parties!

After Liz and her musical collaborators have thoughtfully created and rehearsed a program of classical music (usually an hour in length), they share this with an eager audience.  Every program is bookended with an arrangement of a different pop song on the theme of the concert.  Musical jamming after the show is HIGHLY encouraged and everyone is always welcome to stay and enjoy the comfort of community and new friendships. A few items to note: house shows are shoe-free (you’ll be directed where to put them), house shows have alcohol present (but children are welcome and encouraged to attend with an adult), and house shows require an immense amount of time, work and effort to put on!

Thank you for supporting the work of musicians and all of the background efforts of Liz in opening up her home, marketing these events, practicing, setting up and taking down, and many more details! Hope to see you at the next one!

This show marked the one year anniversary of hosting, curating, planning, playing, and LOVING these Chamber Music House Shows!
It is such an honor to open my home to host audiences and share this music that I love in a way that feels communal, comfortable, and fun. I started this series because I love playing chamber music with friends and, quite simply, want to share this nerdy part of my life with people in the greater Portland area!

To everyone who has ever attended or supported a house show: THANK YOU! We could not do this without you (it would literally just be another rehearsal) and we so WANT to share this music and our love of it with you!

From Left, clockwise: Liz Kohl (pianist/host), Andy Sharma (clarinetist), Andrew Arriaga (guitarist), Laura Trupp (violinist), and Adam Eason (cellist)

Falling - Euphonium, Cello & Piano

Friday October 18th 2019 at 7:30PM (Doors at 7:00PM)

I’m so excited to share this special, fall concert of music with Euphonium player, Jemma Goddard. (“What’s a Euphonium??” “It’s a small tuba!”) Jemma recently graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a music performance degree & is now teaching Kindergarten through 8th grade music in Condon, Oregon through AmeriCorps/Ethos Music, bringing music to underserved communities. She’s an incredibly thoughtful, organized, and fun person. Along with music, Jemma has played rugby & we initially met when she was an intern at All Classical Portland on the volunteer appreciation cruise!

At this concert, we’ll be sharing some favorites from Jemma’s Senior Recital program of great repertoire by Holst, Piazzolla, Guilmant, Joseph de Luca, and more! We will also be featuring Adam Eason’s original Fall Suite: Fall Colors, First Chill, and Leaf Blowers which he composed specifically for Piano & Euphonium for this house show! I am excited and honored to share it with you. Hope to see you there!

An Intimate House Show
Friday, November 30th, 2018 at 7:00PM
This was one of my favorite captures (left) from the evening (thanks, Eric E.!).  We had a wonderful program that evening with cello, flute, guitar, piano, & viola.  We shared music of Schubert, Nils Frahm, Squire, Kreutzer, Bloch, Saint-Saëns, and more!  There were duos, trios, piano solos, a quartet, & a surprise, final sing along of "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music.

A cozy, intimate & fun concert!
