This piano solo by Liz Kohl, “Ode to the Tritone,” was written about the devious and formerly ILLEGAL interval: The Tritone! This musical interval was once referred to as the Devil in Music (Diabolus in Musica)! Though there is a lilting, waltz feel throughout this piece, the juxtaposition of F# Major and C Major creates a feeling of angst and discomfort! You’ll also hear some quotes from the elementary musical exercise ‘Stepping & Skipping‘ as well as “The Rite of Spring!” Hope you enjoy listening and playing!
