Camille Saint-Saëns (pronounced San like Santa and Son like sauna) was a French composer who was a child prodigy and famous composer, performer, teacher, and conductor.  Most pianists know him for his beautiful piano concertos (which you should check out!), but I wanted to share one of his spookiest compositions:

La Danse Macabre

by Saint-Saëns

Questions:

What is the mood/s of this piece?

How many instruments can you identify?

Do the instruments change the mood?  If yes, How?

When do you see/hear an oboe?

(if you're not sure what that is, here's a picture of an oboist in the Oregon Symphony)

Keep up the work in this competition!  Log your practicing and bring in your answers to lessons next week on Saint-Saëns!

Musically Yours,

Miss Liz & Henrietta the Cat
