What a fun weekend of festivities and the first annual Spooktacular costume recital!  I'm so proud of everyone & it was fun to have guests and so many students come in costume!

The Composer of the Week (Week II) is:

Edvard Grieg

A Norwegian composer, Grieg reportedly shared today's composition with another famous composer, Franz Liszt, and received huge praise from him.  I also just found out from this wikipedia page, that this was the first piano concerto to ever be recorded!  It's also one that I've played and I absolutely love it!  There are three movements or parts of this concerto.  The first one ends at 14:26 with a cadenza or special solo for the pianist at the end.  If you'd like to listen to the whole piece, I'd definitely recommend it!  You can listen to the first movement only, if you'd like.

Questions:

None!  The Competition is ending with this week's lesson (In the Hall of the Mountain King are the last questions for normal points).

If you'd like 5 points of extra credit (to be turned in by Friday), come up with 4 of your own questions about this concerto and answer them!

Musically Yours,

Miss Liz & Henrietta the Cat
